I. Project Overview
Tempus Group Co., Ltd. was founded in 1998 in Shenzhen, China and has developed into one of the TOP500 international corporation. Tempus Group operates in the “modern industry-wide service chain” with an annual turnover of more than RMB200 billion, over 500 offices in the world, and 35,000 employees. The A/C room has an old conventional centrifugal chiller (850RT). This chiller has a significant decline in energy efficiency and increasing operating costs, which requires an equipment retrofit.
The A/C room is located on -2nd floor. The new chiller needs to be transported through the elevator down to the equipment room. See solutions below.

II. Solutions
1. Model Selection
2 chiller bank of MTW500-3.0 Modular Oil-free Centrifugal Chillers. Total cooling capacity is
2×450RT = 900RT
Each module in the chiller bank is compact in size and convenient to be transported to the basement through the elevator and reassembled.
2. Equipment Operation
After retrofit, there will be 2 MTW500-3.0 chiller banks to cool the building.

III. Advantages
1. The modular chillers are compact in size and easy to install, fitting very well for this retrofit project with a confined small equipment room. In comparison to traditional chillers, user can gain up to 40% more space.
2. Standard module design enables the add-on flexibility. When larger cooling capacity is needed, just add on new modules to increase unit capacity without any complicated change to the equipment room, piping system and control system.
