The film studio is located at Honggang Shopping Mall, Yingbin Road, Jiyang District, Sanya City, covering 4,000 m2. The film studio uses MULTISTACK magnetic levitation oil-free centrifugal chiller to create a comfortable environment for the nine screening rooms including a DMAX room and a VIP room which can hold 1,219 people at a time. The DMAX room have 339 seats with immersive DTS:X creating a lifelike and overwhelming visual effect equivalent to IMAX.

（1）Solution and Strategy

Use MTW150M modular water cooled oil-free chiller and MSRA130-4.0 modular air-cooled scroll chiller. It is designed to run the oil-free chiller in priority. The air cooled scroll chiller starts up only when capacity required exceeds the capacity of the oil-free chiller.

（2）Analyses of different solutions

The oil-free chiller uses variable frequency drive technology to match the load. It not only reduces energy consumption but also improves reliability of the equipment when running at low load conditions. Running data show that an oil-free chiller is capable to run stably at extremely low load conditions down to 25% with better performance than traditional chillers.

As shown above, solution 1 requires the lowest initial investment whereas solution 3 requires the most. However, solution 3 can save RMB414,000 per year which is 55% energy-saving in comparison to solution 1.

This project uses solution 2 which is both economical and energy efficient with lower initial investment and operation costs than solution 1.
